Unless you want to feature on ‘Funniest Home Videos’ you really do want to avoid the embarrassment of having a strap slip off your guitar while you are in full flow. Electric guitars in particular are prone to shedding their straps for some reason, which is why there is a small but flourishing industry in providing strap locks for guitars. The locks range from a few bucks in price to nickel plated artifacts costing in excess of $50 a pair.
On the other hand you can get very good ones for nothing and enjoy a great beer as part of the bargain. All you need is a couple of those beer bottles with swing clip lids, such as Grolsch, and either a taste for beer or a drummer on a rest break. The bit you are really interested in is the red rubber seal in the cap. You can easily peel this off and place it over your guitar strap instead, just as you can see in the picture of my Fender. That strap will never slip off again.
